How vision boards can hold you back from your true potential

Visions cannot be imagined in the mind. They are birthed through the heart beyond the mind’s control

Vision boards can hinder you from your true potential. I kept having visions about things that require a lot of humour, communication and other people - in other words things that aren’t for me or that I wouldn’t choose or write on a vision board as I used to be rather shy and introverted. Until I realised exactly that.

It makes me embody different aspects of myself. Growth doesn’t happen in the mind. Visions cannot be imagined in the mind. They are birthed through the heart and are beyond the mind’s control or capability of visualisation. Those visions from the heart can scare you or even put you off. Your capability of imagining things are often out of your current self, not the future self living dreams and your full potential.

Because the version of you that lives the future realities or dreams embodies different aspects than you do right now otherwise you would already be living that reality. Sometimes it required me to change locations against my will or desire only to realise the higher self is desire-less. Self less. It moves where it’s guided to, not where the human finds pleasure.

I was once in Greece on a mountain and I felt like eating a chocolate waffle. In that moment my higher self asked me “do you want to have pleasure as a human or growth as a soul?” And I realised that longing for a chocolate waffle came out of the desire of not wanting to feel certain emotions in that moment. I realised what brings you joy and pleasure is sometimes not what brings you growth as a soul. Because a chocolate waffle can lower the vibration and we can lose momentum.
And yet it doesn’t mean to never have fun. Of course we’re here to be joyful and have fun. But there’s a subtle difference whether you’re guided towards something or whether it’s out of a trigger.

What’s the difference between an impulse and a trigger? In my experience, an impulse comes from within. It’s not tied to external circumstances. Like me in Greece, I had the impulse of hiking. An impulse from the intuition is often the first idea that pops up before the second and third arise. That can be the mind. Not always. It’s hard to generalise but I’m simply describing my experience.
E.g. like in my situation. The first impulse was hiking a mountain. There I faced some challenges. So I had the impulse to eat a chocolate waffle. It came from not wanting to face the challenge. It was more like a distraction. And that’s a trigger. It involves outside circumstances. E.g. feeling low and craving for sugar although your higher self tells you ‘no’. So we have to become very alert whether the impulse is really from our intuition (higher self) or our mind.

How can we differentiate?
A question I ask myself is this: Would the best version of me with 0 stress, fear, the version that lives all her dreams do it in that moment? Am I doing it out of pure joy or because I’m being confronted with something?
Of course there’s no right or wrong decision

Impulses from the higher self can sometimes include challenges as they make us grow. So it’s important to trust and follow the guidance even if you’d go like “my current human self would choose differently.” Well for sure it would as our current self holds certain limitations and patterns that binds us to that current reality.

If we really want to follow our dreams, we have to grow into that version living it first. And our higher self guides us towards it. And it will guide us to places , even if they don’t make any sense, people and situations where we can have certain realisations or sometimes see our blind spots or simply become aware of old behaviours and patterns that no longer align with the version of ourselves living the future dreams.

Before we start living our dreams or make them a reality it’s important to embody the qualities of that version living it. That makes us magnetise our dreams the fastest.

And why it challenges us to new places, situations and people is because our human self loves routine. And routines are comfortable. But as our friend Einstein once said and I’m saying it in my words… You cannot do the same things each day and expect different results.

So if your dreams seem far away or you haven’t achieved them yet there’s still some patterns to be released or some new aspects to be embodied first. And the higher self will guide you towards situations and people so that you can spot the blind spots or make you embody new aspects. And so sometimes we have to trust and just follow that impulse. Even if our current self would crave something else.

That’s when truth growth starts. It starts from within.
